Typically, most Public Adjusters are paid on a contingency fee which means the Public adjusters do not charge the Policyholder for any upfront fees, instead they will get a percentage from the overall payment once the claim is settled. The amount the Public Adjusters charge varies on experience as well as State regulation. In Florida, Public Adjusters are not allowed to charge more than 20% on daily losses such as Water, Fire, Vandalism, Roof leaks, Hail, wind, smoke and theft and not more than 10% on declared emergency claims during the first year.
